Better Quality of Life

Biography - "Therapy should be collaborative and engage clients in a way that makes them feel empowered and heard."
My approach to therapy involves helping clients develop an understanding and acceptance of their challenges while also building skills to cope with and reduce mental health concerns. I believe therapy should be collaborative and engage clients in a way that makes them feel empowered and heard.
I utilize evidenced based practices including CBT (cognitive behavioral therapy) and DBT (dialectical behavior therapy) to focus on identifying and changing unhelpful thought and behavior patterns. Once patterns are understood I work with patients to develop alternative ways of thinking as well as skills to improve distress tolerance, mindfulness, emotion regulation, and interpersonal effectiveness.
I have 5 years of experience working with clients dealing with addiction, early recovery, and co-occurring disorders in addition to other experiences working in community mental health settings addressing trauma, borderline personality disorder, anxiety, depression, familial/social strain, and other personality disorder characteristics. I specialize in working with adult males who are struggling with addiction/early recovery, co-occurring disorders, anxiety, depression, self-esteem/identity development, personality disorders, trauma, and relationship/interpersonal concerns. I also work well with adolescents with addiction concerns/histories, trauma, anxiety, depression, self-esteem/identity development, and family/social strain/relationship issues.
