With more than 40 years of clinical experience, I specialize in working with individuals who carry the weight of trauma — particularly complex and combat-related trauma, as well as supporting individuals with alcohol and drug addictions as they overcome their challenges and navigate recovery. I have a background in the military where resilience and confronting
hardships as part of a team are valued. My path as a psychologist has been shaped by deep work with veterans, Native American communities, and clients from diverse cultural backgrounds. This has given me a profound respect for both evidence-based therapy and the wisdom of multicultural healing traditions, which I weave together to support healing in
ways that honor the whole person.

My approach is grounded in trauma-informed care, incorporating practices such as EMDR, clinical hypnosis, and experiential therapies. Over the years, I’ve been privileged to research and learn from Lakota Sioux, Inuit, Zulu, and Latin American healing traditions, blending their perspectives into my work with clients. Whether in one-on-one therapy, group work, or retreats, I strive to create a space where resilience can be rediscovered, and new pathways forward can emerge.

Alongside my clinical work, of which 33 years was dedicated to client care at the Hazelden Betty Ford Foundation, I’ve had the honor of teaching at the graduate level and presenting nationally and internationally on trauma and recovery. From collaborating on research with leading experts like Dr. Bessel van der Kolk, to keynote presentations for the U.S. Army and international trauma conferences, I remain committed to advancing conversations about healing across cultures and contexts.

At CenterLife Counseling, I provide individual therapy. I believe therapy is most effective when it is collaborative, respectful, and culturally attuned. My goal is to walk alongside each client, helping them navigate the pain of trauma while uncovering their own capacity for strength, renewal, and growth.
